Upper Santa Clara Mitigation Property

The Upper Santa Clara River Mitigation Property, the former Curtis Sand and Gravel site, encompasses approximately 140 acres of riverbed and riparian habitats east of Santa Clarita, within the Upper Santa Clara River. Formerly operated as a sand and gravel mine, the reclaimed property is now being managed to protect and restore habitats for special status species within a matrix of riverine, riparian, and upland habitats that support the river’s ecological health and connectivity. The site provides important habitat and connectivity for least Bell’s vireo, unarmored three-spine stickleback and other south coast riparian species.
